Just as children visit the dentist at regular intervals it's equaly important for your child to have regular eye examinations. Many eyesight defects, such as long or short sightedness, astigmatism or squint can be inherited, so if there is a history of any of these in the family your child's eyesight should be tested regularly.

It's often difficult to tell if your child is having problems with their eyes but some tell-tale signs that there could be something wrong include struggling to recongnise colours and shapes ; not showing any interest in learning to read; complaining about headaches and sitting very close to the TV. If you recognise any of these symptoms you should arrange for your child to have an eye examination
